Zoop Toy Co-op
2010
Zoop is a toy co-op system design, including form factors, infographics, web design and business plan.
A collaboration with Lorea Sinclaire and Rowan Liivamagi.
Zoop Toy Co-op is an alternative product system developed for the False Creek Community in Vancouver, BC. The development took place over an extensive process of co-design with the students at False Creek Elementary.

Meeting with Kay, Alexsander, Emma and Fabiana over the course of several months, we were able to conduct research activities with them, to learn more about their needs and wants in the area of play.

Insights derived from this research- like the youngsters’ desire to play together rather than alone, led us to the design of Zoop!, an ice cream truck style experience where the community gathers on a weekly basis to socialize, share, and for the children to exchange their toys.

We tested out our service by building rough mockups to simulate the experience of toy exchange.

Finally, we developed a framework for assessing our potential environmental impact using the Okala guide, and compared the overall impacts of a toy within our system to other existing toys for a significant decrease in environmental demands.
